Unet simplifies global communications for URENCO

Unet, the new global intranet solution developed specifically for URENCO by Emerald, launched on December 16th 2011, on schedule and to positive feedback from users around the globe.
 
As a global business URENCO was operating 5 different intranet solutions with the challenges of updating information that such a set up presents. In early 2011 Jayne Hallet, Head of Group Communications at URENCO, approached Emerald and asked us to consolidate all the information and users into one global intranet. From that initial meeting a process began that involved a global consultation exercise, a lenghty specification project and a build and content transfer project that overall took 6 months to complete.
 
The final solution, Unet, is a bespoke intranet that features user authentication; the ability for users to personalise their home page and to limit the amount of content they view; multiple language options; segmentation of content by user groups; numerous elements that harness the browsing activity of users to present relevant data to other users based on their personal and job role characterisitics; and a comprehensive suite of site statistics. Further developments due to go live in 2012 include Wikis and knowledge banks.
 
URENCO TV features a rapidly expanding library of video and audio content from within the company.
 
URENCO's in-house communications team is already seeing benefits in the ease with which content is maintained, and the sharing of access across their global business. Cost reductions will be achieved through reduced support costs; and efficiencies within the business are already showing the value of a unified communications platform.
